Avars vs Teutonic Knights - posted by Neil Williamson, 26 June 2020

Alistair had an urgent appointment with a special client in Masterton this afternoon. He brought his Teutonic army to absolutely smash the Avar.
Knowing that Alistair had a long drive home I deliberately threw three ones for my pip dice at the beginning of my third bound. That really decided the game. I had (foolishly in retrospect) split my irregular light horse and knights into 3 groups. Holding the knights, all the light horse charged in impetupusly when the plan was to withdraw.
The cavalry were forced to charge into the knights about 40p in front of them and there were no spare pips for the planned feigned flight.
The cavalry soon broke and were shattered soon after. The light horse hung on for a bit longer buoyed by the morale of the knights but the end was inevitable.
Thanks for the game Alistair.
We'll meet again.

Avar artillery deployed on a large hill

Cavalry and light horse on the right wing.
Avar were attacking but went first

The man himself with a disproportionately long arm. A mix of Knight wedges and other knights deployed opposite half of my artillery

And this lot opposite my cavalry and light horse

Alistair is patiently waiting for me to decide what to do

A few march blockers to slow the knights down

Light horse gallop down the flank

Just before the decisive clash at the end of Alistair's bound.
This is when the dreaded triple one's for pips happened. Everyone has to charge in.

The cavalry are in trouble

The knights brave some artillery fire to swing in and give the coup de grace (in German if course)
Two brave knights did succumb to some rocks landing on their heads.

Vincent Cholewa Alastair is building up something of a reputation with his Teutonic Knights. Next step, a German manager at Liverpool ...
