Nationals at Easter, posted by Allen Yaxley, 8 January 2019

Early bird close off for Nationals DBMM is feb 1st for those interested. 👍

Josh Barton Silly question but is that for natcon, or another tourney - I'm just planning my year's gaming and thought I'd try a DBMM tournament (plus it gives me something to work toward!)

Russell Briant Josh Barton. Yep. The DBMM competition at NatCon at Kapiti. Do you have the entry bumph?

Josh Barton Thanks Russell, and no, but I'd like it if possible :)

Allen Yaxley Josh Barton , do you have an army ready to go?

Josh Barton Allen Yaxley not yet, but my English 100 years war army is getting there :)

I will need practice games mind you, there's a lot to remember

Russell Briant Cover photo sigh. Ridiculously good hand painted shields and non-metallic metals. Prodigiously talented.

Allen Yaxley Robs work used with out permission 🙀

Robert Curry Haha no worries Allen was a nice wee surprise seeing them pop up in my feed! A timely reminder that I still need to finish five peltast elements for ValleyCon...

Richard Foster
Yes hands up for going to the NATCON dinner too, we are. All up $95 three days of gaming and a decent nosh up!

Allen Yaxley
Richard Foster how many have you got so far. Chasing up ?

Dirk Heinsius
I'm in, at least I have leave booked for the event

Kushans and DBMM 200, posted by Craig Mabon, 18 January 2019

Since Vince asked so nicely in an earlier post, and it's a quiet Friday afternoon here's some photos from our local DBMM 200 tournament back on 2 Jan and my recent engagement with Paul Graham. First time I'd fought Paul at Ancients despite knowing him for over 40 years.
Russell Briant We need you to have more quiet Friday afternoons. Clearly.

Thanks for helping mine.

Vincent Cholewa Great work, Craig. Parthians with elephants? 🐘

Craig Mabon The Great Kushan Empire - yes Parthians with elephants (and pike). Mind you, Paul Graham calls them 'fake Parthians'.

[Apologies for the order of the pictures. I find control of picture placement difficult in blogger.]

Kushan Cataphracts
Elephants, mountain indian troops and Bactrian Greeks
Close up of horse archers

Close up of elephants - the one in the middle is a general.
Kushan horse archers
Kushan centre advances against Ptolemaics. Mountain Indian cavalry in the foreground. Behind the pikemen can be seen the Kushan right flank moving across to support the failing left flank.
Kushans (Craig) vs Huns (Neil) - the elephants cross the scrub only to find the Hun has buggered off.
Kushans (Craig) vs Middle Imperial Romans (Jim Hoskin) - the Roman deployment
Against Paul Graham's Pyrrhic the flank march finally arrives
Assyrians Craig Mabon vs Pyrrhics Paul Graham - the Assyrian centre where the psiloi are trying their best against the phalanx

60mm x 30mm bases, posted by Josh Barton, 15 January 2019

Does anyone have 4 spare 60x30mm 3mm deep mdf bases they'd be willing to sell, give or trade for (I have plenty of 40mm deep spares!)
I ordered a bunch from Sarissa precision but it uh... turns out I can't count

Neil Williamson Hi Josh, I'm sure I can spare 4 x 30mm. Swap for 4 x 40mm?
I'll be at Valleycon

Josh Barton Thank you Neil, I suppose you can always use more cavalry bases for Alan! I'll see you at Valleycon :)

Allen Yaxley You can order from Mark at dopey dog. Great service. 👍

Josh Barton ah thanks, I didn't know there was a local supplier

Allen Yaxley He’s in Marton. I ordered on Sunday and got them today. 👍

Josh Barton very nice, thanks :)

Kelly Gay Also recommend Mark....

Craig Mabon Another option is David McLachlan in Featherstone. Can be a bit more delay as he is often working in Auckland.
