I’m not sure if these are finally based, if they are it’s the Shire levy of IrrBwS and IrrBO. The guys at the front look like Stiffened Bills which would make them RegBdS - but that would be 4 to a base. At least, that’s how I differentiate my Reg from Irr Bw and Bd - 4 figures / base rather than 3.

Going by what it says on Pg 17, all the infantry is 3-4 to a base. I went with 3.
The Shire have far more shite on them than the Retinue, who in turn are cleaner thsn the Nobles.…

+1 minimum model count. 3 on a base looks fine and sometimes better than 4 plus reducing the painting time by 25% per base! I have been thinking of doing PS at 1 per base for a 50% saving.

I suspected you’d done that, Peter. You’ll have to continue to remind you opponent which are the Reg and Irr guys

Alastair Donald the regulars are all in livery - dirty livery - but significantly different. Units will also have standards.
Hey but any confusion is in keeping with the times. It’s never easy to tell a Stanley or Percy from a treacherous dog

Alastair Donald There are certain troops that I'd always use four on a base - Pikes, Spear, Roman Legion...they just look better. My Palatina are all 4 to a base.
If I remember rightly Cataphracts used to be 4 to a base....I'd hate to try and fit them on now.

My general policy when painting and basing is:
        1. Regulars are always uniformed and Irregulars are "varigated" so to speak.
        2. Close order foot (Pk, Sp, Bd, Wb) are 4 to a base (Fast are 3)
        4. Hd (as many as I can afford/fit generally 5-6 to a base)
        3. Everything else 3 to the base 🙂
