Some chariots for the Biblical Hebrews.
Does anyone have suggestions for good twine or similar for the reins?

Use very fine fuse wire.

I use fine copper wire (had a spool of it for 20+ years) - as easy to bend and keeps shape (unlike real thread)

I unravelled cotton string to use a single strand. It can be coloured with paint and stiffened with pva.

What about paper. Thinly cut. I’ve got some of these chariots and that was my plan…

A few years back Dirk Heinsius recommended some stuff "called Gimp, which is a thick thread for buttonholing" but that said I have done my chariots as driverless cars without reins.

Those look superb btw, the decals/free painting on the chariots is something I have also done on my 28mm Carthies with 15mm transfers.

Best do something. Those drivers look like they about to thrown down and fight their own horses.

Dental tape - like floss but it's a strip rather than a thread. Good for leather reins rather than rope.
ReplyDeleteseconded the above, flat dental tape.
