What I did at the weekend. I played four games in the DBMM competition at the Wellington Warlords’ annual Call to Arms. Thank you so much to
Paul Graham, who ran the DBMM competition, and to the Wellington Warlords for such a great weekend. 20 people (plus a couple of reserves due to illness) took part in DBMM, which is played on pre-set terrain, with players moving around the tables. Overall, about 150 people took part in all competitions and demo games.
I used my new Lithuanian army for the first time in full-size games, previously having played DBMM 100 and 200 with it. I thoroughly enjoyed it and am looking forward to applying lessons about an army based around lots of ordinary light horse and cavalry, with a few additional friends (Tatars and Poles). My opponents were gentlemen all, and I had a great time every game. They were an order, Graham Starkey (Picts), Michael Stonyer (Late Imperial Romans), Raymond Dick (Ghurids ) and Neil Williamson (Pechnegs).

| Early in the game vs Raymond Dick (Ghurids). My flank march will arrive on my left. The game played out with both our respective left commands breaking, lots of casualties, both armies on the edge with the real prospect of the game ending with both armies broken. I was lucky enough to hold on for a sketchy win, 17-8. |
