Franks vs Marian Romans - posted by Julian Hannam, 3 May 2026

Today is a sad day for King Clovis of the Franks. Defeated by Julius Caesar! 450 points of KnF and Bd madness. The 21 KnF failed to ‘fire’ and then sneaky Roman flank and tear attacks did the rest. Maybe I should have sent in the 42 Spear instead!

For those sad enough to remember Lily the Pink:
We'll drink, a drink, a drink
To King Clovis, Clovis, Clovis
Beause he lost, his game to todayayay

Successor elephant - posted by Russell Briant, 3 May 2026

Over Anzac weekend I dug out this Warlord Games Successor elephant and, after repositioning the head, gave it a paint job. I had bought the elephant in 2019 (I think) while visiting a wargames shop, Blitzminis, in Singapore. So it has waited a while.
Lots of Speed Paint 2.0 Hoplite Gold and Bright Red in this model. I also followed the paint scheme on the box so cut down the pondering time a good deal.
Cut off, drilled out and mounted plastic pike counterweights on the wire pikes the kit came with.

Questions about (B) boundary - asked by Phil Gates, 1 May 2026

A question I think I should know the answer to.
How is a "B" (Boundary) treated on the table top?
Am I correct in thinking that if my elements are lining one side of the Boundary (defending it), then any enemy element attacking them must be in contact with their side of the Boundary, and thus count as fighting my elements in Difficult Going?
Or, does it mean any element crossing the Boundary apart from psiloi can only do so in single element columns?
Or, both?

TIA

Andrew Bennetts
Without consulting the rulebook directly my instinct is ‘both’.
A Boundary is a narrow piece of DG. If troops are defending one side of it then enemy attacking them move into them in the normal way but count as in DG.
Regards moving across, again the rules for entering DG apply (even if the elements will end clear of the Boundary): slowed and in single element column (exception Ps).
However if moving to contact enemy defending the far side of the Boundary then a non column move is allowed as the Boundary does not block line of sight

Andrew Bennetts next question, came up today when playing Al, how do you determine how a Boundary is deployed on the table top?
