- Alastair DonaldAdrian Phillips There might have been one – briefly, until it was spotted by an Irish wolfhound … Having owned four real wolfhounds, Chihuahuas were barely tolerated and usually stood on.

- Alastair DonaldAdrian Phillips One day in the early 80s I was walking my Irish wolfhound down the street in Timaru. He was on a lead, but as we walked up to the driveway of a house, a small Chihuahua came flying out down the driveway towards us yelping frantically. I thought things were going to end badly for the Chiwawa so I held the Irish wolfhound’s head up with the lead to stop him from biting it. However, I had underestimated the Irish wolfhounds Irish cunning, because he slammed his large paw down on top of the Chihuahua is it came flying towards us. This splattered the Chihuahua onto the pavement and it lay there squashed for a few seconds until it peeled self off the ground like a cartoon character and slunk back into the house silent and subdued. It may have died shortly afterwards, I didn’t hang around to find out. Good riddance I say.
