The Persians are coming: Kaspian horse archers - postred by Dirk Heinsius, 12 September 2021

The Persians are coming......
Kaspian Horse Archers, finished last night.

Victrix, with almost all the figures converted, which was not quite as easy as I hoped, but I think they turned out all right.

Has anyone actually told Dirkses, king of kings that it's not fair how good his Persians look?

Can you suggest any good resources for Persian cavalry, Wargames Illustrated have said my next commission is the new victrix cavalry and I’ve been trying to find a few good pictures and info on them, any help would be greatly appreciated, oh great job on these they look awesome.

Kent Galpin My inspiration was “The Achaemenid Persian Army” by Duncan Head. The plan is bright colours and lots of braid/trim but muted to a more natural shade. I find the Sekunda colours too harsh. Also in general I’m going for lots of nationalities.

I really like these atmospheric shots, great looking figures and historically appropriate backgrounds. Top stuff!

James Fahey many thanks. The wonders of having photoshop and a shutterstock account through work really helps. The real trick is getting the lighting correct

Dirk Heinsius Was just going to ask about how you made the pics. I'm guessing you have a sandbox to stand the figures in and a green screen behind. Or is it all just photoshop.

Bob Smith I just take a photo on my painting table, with the light shining forward onto the faces. Important thing is to make sure that the pic is basically at eye level. Then I use photoshop to take out the background, Copt the pic onto a suitable backdrop and the adjust the lighting.
Final thing is to fade out the bases of the figures
