Roman clubs: Hammer time! Posted by Russell Briant, 4 September 2021

Ok. Have decided how to arm my Legionnaire clubmen.
Been doing some reading and saw a number of comment about clubs not being a typical legionnaire weapons and therefore not something they could readily arm with.
That got me thinking what would legionnaires have easy access to that they could bash a heavily armoured Clibinnarii with and decided many of their usual entrenching equipment could do that double duty.
So this afternoon I’ve made 16 pieces of engineering equipment. Mauls, hammers, picks and mattocks (ligo). That’ll do as an idea.

Have now glued the weapons to their legionnaires.

It was looking good until you said: this afternoon I made 16 pieces of engineering equipment… I can barely glue spears on properly! Great work
