Pergamenes - posted by Paul Graham, 8 September 2021

Yay, new army finally finished after about 20 years faffing around. The mighty Pergamenes are ready to rumble. Who, what, you might ask? While their opponents fall about laughing at the clouds of compulsory skirmishers and auxiliaries, their terror weapon (expensive regular wedgeless fast knights) can strike. What could possibly go wrong.

The smiting power of hordes of compulsory psiloi should never be underrated.

Philip Gates agree! Regular Ps (S) great value! And psiloi in masses with difficult terrain ar OP...i like to flood the board with steep hills! Also the ability to spring ambush from rough scrub n rocks

That might be two odysseys! Are there cataphracts and elephants among the strike force?

Allen Yaxley There are around 80AP to provide some variation, either a small group of Seleucids, a mob of Galatians, or the highly reliable Kappadokian ally.

Hi Paul - Beaten to the punch! I have Pergamenes on my 2022 list so will be keen to hear how get on with them. I think there is definitely more than comedy value in them 😉

Spooky Darling! as Dame Edna would say. It took me 20 years to build my 15mm Attalid Pergamene army too. Finally completed back in 2015 https://drewjarman.blogspot.com/.../attalid-pergamene...

Andrew Jarman One of the reasons they took so long was they were a really good list in 7th Edition (lots of Reg LMI long spear + javelin, ah those were the days) but needed new figures and much rebasing for DBMM. Plus just getting on with it.

Pergamon Press was the 1980s slush fund for ratbag UK.publisher Robert Maxwell who ran off with the workers pension fund and whose daughter Giselle was the procure of young women for the pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and allegedly Pince Andrew.
Given the connections we need to check Paul's baggage ....just saying.
