What you see in this shot is 4 baggage camels masquerading as elephants which i accidentally left at home. Didn't stop Dirk killing all of them anyway 🥴

Vincent Cholewa - You wanted a battle report......
The Persians invaded and crossed the Roman Frontier, probably heading for Antioch. The Romans concentrated their forces along the main road, with the allied Ghassanid Arabs, on the left whilst a small force was sent wide to block the other unpaved road.
The Sassanids deployed directly in front of the main Roman Force, with a large contingent of Cavalry and Cataphracts, Elephants, Dailami, and assorted Skirmishers.
The Romans quickly realised that at least a third of the Persian Force was missing, and suspected a flanking force coming around their left, so they launched an immediate attack across the entire front, hoping to defeat the main force before the flanking force arrived.
The Persians were caught with their PIPs down and were bottled up. The Romans saw a chance and sent the Clininarii forward, into the Persian Cavalry, only to have these destroyed to the man.
Perhaps encouraged by this the Dailami came forward to try their luck against the Legions, which left the Elephants exposed to the Roman Ballistae, which made short work of them, and then with the losses taken by the Dailami, this command quickly lost heart. and then fled the field.
About this time the remaining third of the Persian Force arrived on the Roman left, but were very slow to deploy. The Praetorians and the Ballistae were now freed up and able to turn to face this new threat. The Persian cataphracts launched a charge against the Roman Legions (and clubmen), with limited effect, and now with one command gone, one disheartened, and one facing a wall of Praetorians with artillery support, the Persians wisely called it a day and withdrew from the field.
Speed and artillery support is what won the day for Rome. Good PIPs allowed the Romans to close quickly and prevent the Persians from deploying, the threat of Artillery kept the Elephants at bay, and the late arrival and slow deployment of the Persian flanking force, allowed the Romans to destroy the Persians piecemeal.

That Rome prevailed due partly to my late arriving flank march and ArtF taking out 3 elephants 🙄
