The annual Heavy Metal 28mm DBMM event will be staged again as usual in Pukekohe over Labour Weekend (24th/25th October).
For any who aren't familiar, this is a 'try it on the dog' convention for 25mm+ modellers and gamers. We hand out gongs as mementoes to the best performed generals on the weekend but this is *not* a competition. The focus is on getting your best looking toys - troops, train, terrain - on table. Match-making is informal - we do as much as we can ahead of the event. Historical matchups, or actual refights, are popular and frequently favoured.
As Registrar, please start letting me know if you’re coming, what armies you are bringing (many bring more than one) and by all means start issuing challenges to other likely participants you’d like to play. I will collate these and establish a draw, matching up people who don’t have their Dance Card full in advance so we can have a complete 4 round draw in advance.
Boring Details:
Date: Sat 24 - Sun 25 October 2026 (4 games, 2 per day)
Venue: Pukekohe Scout Hall, 2 Edinburgh St, Pukekohe.
Ruleset: DBMM v2.1 for ancients is the default, but whatever you agree with your playing partner. 400, 450 or more AP as mutually agreed.
Registration: $30 – payable at the door
We'll set up as many 8'x5' surfaces as we have tops, remainder will be 8'x6'.
We usually share an evening meal on the Saturday night. Let me know if you're keen to attend this and what would be your preference for cuisine. We had an excellent Turkish last year but Indian, Chinese, Thai are all also available.
I'll keep everyone up to date with lists of runners and riders. Please forward to anyone not on Facebook that you think might be interested
