Three to a base for big "25"mm is okay - posted by Kevin O'Kane, 24 December 2022

The joys (?) of trying to fit current figures onto the standard DBMM bases. Fireforge Byzantine spearmen will NOT easily manage a frontage of 4 - unless you are prepared to turn them sideways. Shield transfers are home made - will comment on those later.

The DBMM rules say three to a base for >28mm figures. That is what I did with Xenophon and da Boys (Greek hoplite mercenary command) for my Thracians. Most people didn’t notice they were three to a base until I told them.

Don’t be afraid to cut down the bases either.
Or even look at their arrangement - I had a problem with some Essex spearmen once, where the bases were too wide, but I solved it by putting them into two “ranks” on the base.

Also laid out the spears as 2+2 and it looked even more naff than "right turn, now shuffle left towards the enemy".

I can get Perry’s 4 to a base but most everything else - no chance
