Lawrence Hargreaves extra move to line up triangle - shared by John Edmundson, 16 June 2022

Being the innumerate imbecile that I am, I had no idea how to use the triangle so Lawrence Greaves kindly created this pdf and added it to the files section of the dbmm.io group.

How to use the EMTLU triangle:

Use when your element is trying to contact an enemy flank or rear, but it's not obvious that it can reach (i.e. will 80p EMTLU be enough to line up properly?).

Place one edge along the edge you are trying to contact (with one corner touching the target element's front corner if it's a flank edge).

Measure your move to another edge of the triangle (if it's a flank contact, it must be the edge that starts at the front corner).

Corner L can reach corner A, R can reach B. Then L can EMTLU to C.

L to C as a straight line is less than 200p + 80p. However, to qualify for the extra 80p you have to be able to reach contact with your normal move. L cannot reach A with a normal move, therefore it

would need more than 80p EMTLU. (Technically, you could move L along the straight path to C so that at contact it would be within reach, but then the attacking element would be in the target's TZ so not able to legally contact the flank. )
