"Belisarius" the perfume - posted by Vince Cholewa, 6 January 2025

One of our sons, Jake, and daughter-in-law to be, Briony, very kindly shouted my wife, Mim Cholewa, and me a perfume-making workshop for Mim’s birthday. Not only was I the only bloke there but I was the only one making a Byzantine-inspired perfume!

What did you take as your inspiration. With Belisarius I would think, woody, dash of smoke, maybe hint of victory?

Julian Hannam snap! I did use woody, smokey, oriental and musky oils among others. They have recorded the top, middle and base notes and the blender I used (I didn’t know that stuff before the workshop) so I can get more (and gave me a $10 voucher as a “generous” discount for a second bottle - marketing!).

Vincent Cholewa I hope your fine perfume efforts aren’t squandered by your perfume empire.

James Fahey well spotted 👍
My two Byzantine armies, Early and Maurikian, are Hinchliffe figures from a box Brent Senior-Partridge gave me on the condition I paint them and use them, which I have and do 💕
