PERSIAN UNARMOURED SPEARMAN TEST SHOTS
We are very pleased to show you the first test frames of the new Persian Unarmoured Spearmen. The detail on these is superb and we cant wait to hear what you guys think of them.
This is a really versatile set and covers a multitude of Persian troop types. You can use them as early Persians if they are using the Spara (large rectangular shields) These would form the front rank of massed archer units of the Early Achaemenid Persian army, the army of Darius 1st and Xerxes. Combine with the previous unarmoured archers set to form these units.
They can also cover troops of the Later Achaemenid empire that fought the Macedonians. Guards and Satraps Guards would fight with thrusting spear and large round shield. Maybe they used a bow as well so the bow case is optional. They can be used as Kardakes and Takabara which fought in a Peltast fashion with crescent shield. Javelins, axes and bows and also may have been re-equipped with thrusting spear and large round shield .
You can also use them as skirmishing light troops armed simply with Javelins and shield or slingers.
This set also extends into the Successors wars as levies and allies and can also be used into the time of the Roman wars with Pontus. Try switching the heads with some bare heads from other sets to make Asian hilltribes. The uses are pretty endless.
These will go on sale in the next couple of weeks, alongside some new shield transfers. Keep your eyes peeled.
