Great pics from the Hutt Valley Wargaming Club - from Mike Stonyer, 11 October 2026

Thank you so much to Michael Stonyer who sent these great pics from the Hutt Valley Wargaming Club yesterday Saturday, October 10). There were two DBMM games: Craig Ellison (Early Germans) vs Daniel Wade (Early Imperial Romans); and Paul Graham (Medieval French) vs Philip Gates (French Ordonnance), which ended in a bloody draw with both armies losing more than 40 percent of their morale equivalents.

Let the games begin: Craig Ellison (Early Germans) has lost his opponent, Daniel Wade (Early Imperial Roman). Philip Gates is deploying his French Ordonnance, Graham Starkey is offering strategic advice and Paul Graham (Medieval French) is watching what’s in this newfangled Ordonnance army.

Paul getting his Medieval French underway. Graham is pondering, Phil is wandering “what cunning is this?” and Dan has wandered over from his table.

Craig with lots of Germans.

Daniel’s Romans see Germans, fousands of Germans.

Hasn’t Daniel done a great job? 👏

Paul and Graham, “now what?”

The battle is joined, Paul’s Medieval French vs Phil’s French Ordonnance. Could it be that the only people the French like fighting more than the English are the French?

Photojournalist, Mike says: “A photo of Paul to be inserted into the first meeting of the two armies as the French medieval cavalry destroy the first elements of the ordinance enemies”.

Nice! Some of Phil’s French Ordonnance

Don’t these dudes look good? Some of Phil’s pikemen.

Swiss friends (paid friends) in Phil’s French Ordonnance army.

Now these dudes look decidedly battle weary. Paul and Phil called it a bloody draw after both armies had lost more 40 percent of their morale equivalents.
