We had two games of DBMM at Pukekohe on Sunday, October 4.
Philip and Wayne matched off in the smaller scale (15mm) with Lydians versus Philip's brand new Sea Peoples. Sadly for Philip, the Sea Peoples suffered rather from "Newly Painted Figure Syndrome" and consequently crashed to defeat. Both armies really did look superb and I wish I'd been able to take more photos.
Meanwhile, I gave Ian, who is returning to DBMM after a break of a few years, a refresher game in advance of HMC in a few weeks. As Ian had some transport issues and couldn't bring his own army (transporting 28mm on a motorbike is not recommended!) we used two of my armies: Anglo-Norman and Sicilian Norman.
And while the games were in progress, who should walk in than Paul Graham, visiting Auckland and dropping off the Brent Senior-Partridge trophy that Grant Brown won recently at CTA. Grant, being something of a wargaming polymath, was playing 15mm DBR on the day.

Wayne's Lydians (bottom) facing off against Philip's literal "Sea of Peoples"(top). Both armies are superb examples of what can be done in 15mm.
 | Philips army featured a command of no less than 52ME!
 | But in the end the Lydians prevailed.
 | Anglo Normans (left) face off against their Sicilian cousins (right)

Anglo Norman dismounted knights and supporting spearmen advance against the Sicilian infantry centre.
 | Welsh archers in the service of the Anglo Normans bend their bows against approaching Sicilian knights. Saracen archers (Bw(I)), wisely shelter behind the Sicilian knights!

Sicilian (right) and Anglo-Norman (left) chivalry clash as a massive melee breaks out.
I’m not sure that anyone has previously accused Anglo-Normans of chivalry! |
Great to see pics of the games. We have been playing some 15mm in Levin as we dust off our armies

Vincent Cholewa Possibly, but at our age we'd never be able to see them to find them ...
Was a hugely enjoyable game, thanks for that. I am looking forward to the next game.
