What's that bit on a Roman standard? Asked by Daniel Wade, 15 August 2024

Does anyone know what the small tab which is at the lower part of the pole is meant to be, metal or cloth? The figure is a Black Tree Design Praetorian.

What Tilman Dang said “Notice the projecting hand grip low down on the shaft.” This is from. “The Complete Roman Army,” by Adrian Goldsworthy.
