From
Wargaming in Horowhenua: Great to see four games played yesterday [Sunday] at Levin East School and to have so many people drop by. Please always feel free to come by to a meeting even if you
haven’t a game organised. You might be able to join a game, you will certainly talk toy soldiers, and do bring along any figures, rules etc. you might have to show us.
DBA: Samuel and David Taylor played Achaemenid Persians vs Greeks and Spartacus revolt vs Macedonians. Samuel won both games, made more impressive that he played with his eyes shut - see the pic below
Battletech:
Richard Glendinning (and one of his children) played
Rhys Hendry. They had limited time with family commitments, so they took pics of the board and the game is to be continued next meeting.
DBMM: A big thank you to our visitor from Masterton,
Neil Williamson, who brought Avars to play my Mitanni. A lucky home win on the back of a key bound when the Mitanni chariots got in amongst the Avar light horse and rolled five sixes! We were practicing with our armies for Wellington Warlords’ annual Call to Arms, August 31-September 1
https://warlords.org.nz/cta24-comps-packsHonoured guests and visitors: Edward Gough, great to see you coming along for the first time -
David Lloyd Ed is interested in Napoleonics, among other stuff
; Neil, of course;
Chris Blackler;
Bryan Fowler;
Ken Hay and Stephen Sands.
And there were a few transfers of goods: roads for Chris from the estate of Brent Senior-Partridge, Bryan is being a mule to transport two packets of Old Glory figures to
Nick Buckby, and Neil gave me the Recoil 2019 trophy, which somehow had not been presented previously - it was most graciously accepted
A good day of toy soldiers!
Our next meeting ia scheduled for September 1 but with Call to Arms on that day it might be rescheduled. Watch this space and the email group for updates. If you are not on the email group, let me know and I will add you.

DBMM: Neil Williamson (Avars) from the Masterton Marauders has the first bound vs Vincent Cholewa (Mitanni). The key action happened on the right. The Hittite allies misbehaved (unreliable) and the Mitanni reserve moved behind the Hittites and to their right to stop Avar light horse doing bad things. The above mentioned five sixes were rolled in the subsequent action. |

Samuel and David Taylor playing the first of their two games of DBA, this one Persians vs Greeks. “I can do this with my eyes closed!” |
|
A fortunate pic of the Battletech board. Soon after a die roll moved on of the techs and we had evidence of where it had been. |

Many thanks Neil Williamson. Was this the first Recoil!? Recoil! Is an annual DBMM 200 (half-sized games) competition Neil runs. |
