Byzantine general - posted by Kevin O'Kane, 14 March 2023

Life has been a little disruptive recently - called into hospital at zero notice 4 weeks ago (very happy this happened) but getting back into routine has been a bit of a challenge. Byzantine general (#1) almost complete - read notes for each image.

Prior to basing - so the effect on the general's horse is more visible. Late Roman practice used "tinning" to create a silver shine on armour plates. Reference - figure 8 in "Armies and Enemies of Imperial Rome" (Barker/ Heath)

original image was low resolution and had a lot of irregular detail that would not reproduce well on a banner. So some basic resizing and simplification in Photoshop
