Pukekohe hosted a number of games yesterday with morning and afternoon sessions. I was at the Auckland Museum seeing the Greeks exhibition so only made the afternoon game. I arrived as Al Donald was finishing up a drawn match with Ivan's Macedonians. Al and I then set up and my Minoans took a run at the valley of death! The Spartans had deployed their entire army between and on two difficult hills. Lack of pips meant they yielded the defenders initiative however they made up for that subsequently and rushed the centre line, smashed the Pike X, picked on Ax I with Sp S and killed a Minoan Kn sub general after he himself had killed 4 Spartiates. A good win for Al's "SPARTA" (shouted in Brian Blessed style) Spartans. On the other tables Benny used John Calnan's Ottomans aganist John Calnan's Ghaznavids while Ivan used Gerard's Scots aganist Gerard's Chinese. Makes perfect sense when you know that Ivan and Benny have purchased those armies....more photos from others will follow.

John MoherBen where did you score the minotaur headed guy, young man? Looks good...
John MoherBen thanks - Gosh - I don't recall that from Time Bandits - I must be getting really old....
Ben VartokJohn Moher Sean Connery as Agemmemnon fights the Minotaur, the boy actually falls through a portal at the end of the fight distracting the minotaur. Nice figures at Northumbrian Tin, more fantasy and quite expensive but still nice.
John MoherBen nice - yes rings vague memories now you mention it... About the only scene I really remember is when they meet/collect Ian Holm's Napoleon...
John MoherSeems to have been the day for Minoans and Mycenaeans to be out and about... Given my guys had a run at some Achaemenid Persians yesterday as well!
Vincent CholewaMany thanks for the report. I do like the white wall tyres on the chariots - very Chevrolet!
Dirk HeinsiusIt looks like Darius might need to muster his forces, and cross the Hellespont (or perhaps the Bombay Hills ) and deal with these pesky Spartan Barbarians
Vincent CholewaBen Vartok Darius might bring the civilisation of Totara Park, and Surrounding Suburbs, coffee culture to the north
Ben VartokVincent Cholewa provided it’s a single origin and ideally single farm bean roasted no more than two days ago then he is welcome. There is a decaf option but I made a promise not to swear so much.
Alastair DonaldDirk Heinsius You bring the crowns and heads of conquered kings to my city steps. You insult my queen. You threaten my people with slavery and death! Oh, I've chosen my words carefully, Persian. SPARTA!
