At the AWC yesterday, I had the pleasure of taking on Grant Brown's Early Libyan horde with my New Kingdom Egyptians. In what turned out to be a less than subtle battle of attrition, the fact that the invading Libyans had to deploy first proved decisive, allowing the Egyptians to set up the key matchups (Wb against allied Sea Peoples Bd(F) and Reg Bd with a strong Ps screen against Wb(F)). MVP for the Egyptians though were their 4 elements of Irr Cv(O) chariots who successfully held up huge command on Wb and Ps by skillfully throwing higher than their opponents in practically every combat . Being the gentleman that he is, Grant took the Egyptians insanely hot combat dice across the board in his stride........

The Libyans, moving first, rush the NKE to pin them against their baseline. The gallant Canaanite chariots can be seen top left.

The climax of the battle as the NKE's Libyan mercenaries begin to get the upper hand against the Sea Peoples command, while controlled charges by Egyptian Reg Bd(F) start to wear down the Libyan Wb.
John EdmundsonIronic that the Libyans were defeated by, er, Libyans . . . |

Four Canaanite Irr Cv(O) chariots face off against against an entire Libyan command. Amazingly only one chariot was lost! |
Vincent CholewaWell done those chariots. On bad days warband make them Cv flee. Made life difficult for my equites when Claudius invaded Britain
