Wrestling match between Philip Gates Spartans (Agesilaus in Asia) and a bunch of Romans led by Julius himself. Sorry the photos are bit sparse.
Caesar invaded but had to deploy first. Bd(S) on the left wing supported by Aux/Ps and a nellie, Gallic Wb(O) in the centre supported by some legionaries and light troops on the right. Spartans lined up with Agesilaus on the left with Cav, LH and light troops (plus one Kn(I) which proved very effective).
Story of the battle - a combination of low PIPs and good use of Ps screens slowed the Roman left and centre, Agesilaus eventually broke the Roman right, but the Roman Bd and Wb eventually did enough damage. We worked out that the Spartans broke with the Romans about 1.5ME away from going themselves.
Great fun. Great opponent. Not a great matchup for the Spartans but they fought very well.

Romans with some light troops then the ordinary legionaries with warband beyond. Legio X is just this side of the BUA with light troops facing the BUA. The Cv/LH reserve command can be seen behaind. |
And the Spartans. Agesilaus and the Cav with light troops in front and LH behind. Ps in the RF and screening the Spartans from the Wb. Then the Mercenary Hoplites and their light troops beyond. |
