Update, date change for Levin DBMM, 2026, Vive la France! Posted by Vince Cholewa, 15 December 2025

https://www.facebook.com/groups/824840264342234/posts/3141533886006182/[Edited] I am changing the dates from my original post but diary Matariki weekend anyway, Friday July 10 is the public holiday. I have been told of a clash with a DBMM event in another town that weekend. Not being cryptic, the organisers are just getting their publicity ready and contacted me this morning. You will hear from them soon and I will confirm new dates for Vive la France!, which will be at our usual venue, the Levin Cosmopolitan Club. This is early notice to choose armies.

Theme: armies of France and their enemies.
The armies of France are:
4/4 Feudal French
4/64 Medieval French
4/82 French Ordonnance.
Also as wannabe French (by the Kings of France if not necessarily by the Dukes of Burgundy):
4/76 Early Burgundian
4/85 Burgundian Ordonnance.
France playing away (Allez les Bleus!):
4/7 Early Crusader
4/17 Later Crusader.
Enemies of France are:
Armies included as enemies in the French and Burgundian lists. This includes 3/33 Early Muslim North Africa and Sicily and 4/20 Ayyubid Egyptian as well as the expected numerous and varied iterations of (under many names) English, Spanish, Italian and Sicilian, mercenary, Low Countries, Germans and Swiss.
Enemies of the Crusader lists that are not already included as enemies of France in the paragraph above, are outside the scope of the theme. My sketchy logic: these are not enemies of France per se, it’s stretching the theme to include the Crusaders anyway (some players have Crusader armies but not other armies for the theme), and stretching the stretch might be too much.
Armies 400AP unless players both agree on different points. More details to come ⚔️🎲🛡️

A version of the Oriflamme, the royal battle standard of the King of France.

All the French armies are in book 4 of the army lists, though some of their enemies are in book 3.

Jeanne d'Arc probably looked nothing like this but it’s a wonderfully romantic image.

Great theme Vince. Count me in!
