This a plea from two wargamers in Canada who want very much to learn the DBMM rules. We are not novices, having played many games of DBA, DBR, ADLG and many other rule systems in Napoleonics, ACW, SYW, Pike and Shot and Great Northern War.
We decided a number of months ago that we would learn DBMM because we love the detail and historicity of the rules.
Easier said than done!
So now comes the plea, or request, to our wargaming cousins in New Zealand. We have reached the conclusion that seeing veteran DBMM players playing out at least a few moves would be tremendously helpful.
Since there is a large DBMM community in New Zealand, and since there are no Covid lockdowns, would it be possible to have two volunteers play out the setting up of a battle and then several moves with another volunteer videoing and offering commentary?
A video like this, given widespread exposure, could become a resource for the rules to pull in recruits. I know it would certainly help my friend and I,, who could then put on games at conventions (after Covid that is) and spread the word to the Frozen North.
Thank you for your time. The two of us are keeping our fingers crossed.
All the best,
Alex Beer
