How to paint Classical Indians? Posted by Dave Madigan, 3 October 2020

Anybody with information on colours for these? i.e. were the kilts all white or a range of colours? Sword scabbards, shields, horse furniture, elephants, chariots etc? I have these wonderful figures and want to do a good job painting them.

  • Dave it depends on which region you are modelling. Duncan Head recommended plain Black Lacquer for the Indians that I use with my various Muslim states allies

       That's over a millennium later though. What does Duncan say in AMPW? I've tended to assume plain white cotton for the PBI and lots of colour for the nobles on chariots, elephants and maybe the cavalry too. They're likely to be northern In…

       linen rather than cotton for my Indians so off white.
