What did Trapezuntine, Rhizian and Mauri javelinmen look like? Asked by Daniel Wade, 10 July 2025

I'm just going through my EIR stock and working out what I need to buy. In the army list 56 there is an option of Trapezuntine, Rhizian or Mauri Javelinmen Irr PS. I've not found any reference online. Are these Western, Numidian or other type of troop?

I'm assuming that this depends where the army was based. In Africa you'd get Berbers (Mauri), in Europe Illyrians (Rhizi) and in Asia Minor Trapezuntine. So you could reasonably have Spanish/Numidian style troops, Balkan/Greek looking troops or even something vaguely Persian or Armenian. You can laugh at anyone who says you are wrong. There are only a couple of players old enough to remember the Roman Empire - you know who you are.

Barry Norris Thanks, I was looking at 1st Corp Numidian Javelin throwers, but I have some spare OOP BTD figures meant to be Spanish I think, so I think they will do the job for Britain.
