 Levin DBMM competition, the Persian Empires and their enemies, a few pics from yesterday’s action at the Levin Cosmopolitan Club: my two opponents, results to date and spot prizes. All four spot prizes come with a commemorative certificate and a packet of the finest products from a local factory, RJ’s liquorice, which is just around the corner from the venue

I am using Thracians and first up I played Julian Hannam (Early Achaemenid Persian) for an 18-7 win to me.

My second game, Thracians vs Craig Mabon (Kushan), draw 11-14.

Dirk Heinsius won the “ climb every mountain” spot prize.

Craig Mabon won the “triangles” spot prize.

Andrew BennettsA misinterpretation of the flank marching paragraph did not help. Bruce's flank march overwhelmed mine and destroyed it completely in the second round.

This was later found to be an error. Bummer not being able to find the relevant points in the rules!

Philip Gates I will post today. I needed yesterday to do the things I hadn’t done over the weekend! I played (Thracians) so there would not be a bye and I learned it really is a lot easier to have a non-playing “floor manager” during the competition

Philip Gates Well, I had Graham Starkey on the ropes, and the game came down to me rolling at least 5 1s and 2s in a row to loose a big LH battle. But third is my best result for a long, long time.
