On my painting table: Light horse I have painted for a friend to expand the options for his Alans. I have six more elements to paint - should be done over the holidays. There are also some running repairs needed by some of my Seleucids after recent games, the pavisors for my early 16th century Polish army, and the slowly expanding small pile of crossbowmen for the second rank behind the pavisors.

A Roman dice tower! Alea iacta est - posted by Vince Cholewa, 5 December 2018


A Roman throwing tower found at Vettweiß-Froitz-heim in Germany. The sides have been worked open, so that the players could see the dice rolling. Invented to prevent cheating.Text on the back reads: 'utere felix vivas' ('use it and live as a lucky man').
On the front it says ' Pictos victos hostis deleta ludite securi' (' The Picts have been defeated, the enemy destroyed, play carefree').
The text refers to a Roman victory over the Picts in Scotland, north of Roman Britannia.

Reporting on the Radio NZ website today and also the recording of the interviews on Morning Report today 



Denis Grey Saw a previous exhibition in London in 1987. Quite amazing.

Scott Bowman Sorry mate, no I didnt get those. I could add them to our subsequent restock order but that may well be some time off. Unless I get a bunch of orders for them, or order for other items we dont already have in. Minimum order for me is 10 mats.
