DBMM New Zealand DBMM, De Bellis Magistrorum Militum, are wargames rules for ancient and medieval battles from 3000 BC to 1525 AD. The rules are written by Phil Barker and published by the Wargames Research Group Limited Publications. The rules, army lists and books are available from www.wrg.me.uk The purpose of this blog is to promote the rules in New Zealand by sharing information and photos. Two games of DBMM at the Auckland Wargaming Club - postee by Ben Vartok, 17 February 2026

Two games of DBMM and an AGM at the AWC on Sunday 15th. Philip Abela was playing 15mm with Mithradatic vs Romans (no photos sorry). Despite one flank collapsed and progressively rolled up by the Romans Phil managed a win. In the 28mm game my Late Early Carthaginians salvaged a draw vs Wayne Watts Bithynians fresh from their stunning performance in Levin. Dice complaints, ho hum, but hey in addition to dying while rolling 1s I was also dying while rolling 5s!
