Thank you so much to everyone who came to our meeting on Sunday, when we had four tables being used and smiling visitors. Alastair Duncan travelled from Wellington and Gavin Dodd came from Palmerston North with their armies.
We played three games of DBMM ancients and medieval and one of Bolt Action World War 2.
Mentions in dispatches for Ken Hay who manages the hall for us and David Taylor for the tea, coffee and biscuits(and he didn’t even play!); Grant te Tau also brought biscuits. Much appreciated, all.
It was great to have Ed Gough, Stephen and Kieran come by. Special thank you to Kieran who knows the Bolt Action rules really well for connecting with our players and getting them in touch with a bigger group of Bolt Action gamers.
Chris Blackler (Late Imperial Roman) vs Brett (Picts) played DBMM 100. A narrow win for the Picts after the Romans just could not win any of the combats where they had hard flanks in their favour.
Samuel Taylor (100 Years War English) vs Gavin (Alexandrian Macedonian) played DBMM 100. The longbows proved decisive.
Alastair (Early Egyptians - so many Early Egyptians!) vs me (Mitanni) played a 450 point DBMM game. A win for the Egyptians after they lost more than 40% of their ME.
Ken (Japanese) vs Grant (British 8th Army) had a great game with Kieran advising.
We meet on the first and third Sunday of the month, 10am at Poroutawhao Hall. Our next meeting will be Sunday, March 1.
So far six of us are travelling to the Hutt Valley Wargaming Club at St Patrick’s College, Silverstream on Saturday, March 28. Chris, Brett, Samuel and I are playing in the DBMM 100 interclub competition vs teams from the Hutt Club, Wellington Warlords and Wairarapa. David is our non-playing Manager and Sensei, and Gavin is coming to get in some more DBMM learning games. There is room for more and you are most welcome to join us. Please let me know if you’d like to come, too.

| DBMM: 450 points, my Mitanni vs Alastair Duncan’s Early Egyptians. Between the river and the built up area (more a metropolis than a BUA!) and with an orchard and rocky ground, the terrain was not ideal for my chariot heavy army. I had a flank march, all chariots, that arrived to the right of the BUA. A great fun game with a dear friend. |

DBMM 100: Samuel Taylor (100 Years War English) vs Gavin Dodd (Alexandrian Macedonian). Later, we realised that the box behind Samuel contains ... terrain tiles. Of course it did!

Bolt Action: Grant te Tau (British 8th Army) vs Ken Hay (Japanese). Ed Gough is seated. Aaron PaulKen how are you finding the Japanese in 3rd Ed. Vet spam ? |
