Call to Arms, and the winners were (unofficial results as I noted them):
- first, Keith V Trye (Early Burgundian)
- second, Alastair Duncan (in order Sumerian, Hyksos, Philistines, Hittites)
- third, Graham Starkey (Parthian)
- best presented army, Daniel Wade, (Ancient British).
Thank you so much to Paul Graham for all his efforts running the DBMM competition (twice!) and to the Wellington Warlords for running this annual event. It was originally scheduled for the end of September but a double booking at the venue led to it being postponed. Players were already travelling from around the country for the DBMM competition when the double booking was discovered and Paul scrambled and found an alternate venue, in just one day! The DBMM competition, for the Brent Senior-Partridge Memorial Trophy, went ahead. Hence when Call to Arms was actually held, the DBMM competition was V2 with the appropriate certificate and model.
At Call to Arms DBMM is played with a 500AP list from which players can chose a 450AP for each game. Terrain is preset and players move around the tables in a cunning system devised by Paul. Ten of us played at V2.
I had a great time - thank you to all my opponents amd everyone involved - and will post about my games later.
