Here is the first of my Bovis Incindiarus for my Lusitanian DBMM army.
These are the Diodorus Siculus interpretation. A herd of fighting bulls with flaming torches affixed to their horns.
“According to accounts, the Carthaginians attempted to employ their formidable war elephants in the battle. However, Orissus had forewarned his forces about this and devised a strategy. He concealed a herd of fighting bulls with torches affixed to their antlers behind his army. When the
elephants charged, the Oretani warriors ignited the torches and set the bulls upon them. The Punic elephants were frightened, resulting in chaos among their ranks and the burning of their camp. Historians differ in their interpretations of this event. While Diodorus Siculus supports the account as related.”
I’m addition to the flaming torches panicking them, I herding them along with a pair of Pyrenean Mastiffs (well one has to find uses for all the hounds in the Wargames Atlantic Dark Age Irish set).

Various sources for Spanish fighting bull coat colours. |

Played around with a darker grass shade under the critters to add a shadow effect.

May add a painted matt varnish. My Aerosol Matt Varnish seems to be more satin. |
