Communal Italian war wagons - posted by Craig Ellison, 28 April 2020

I'm very envious of some of the wonderful painting you guys have been doing while under Lockdown 4 - regretfully Zoom has made my life busier than ever! I have managed to slowly progress the Communal Italians - or at least some war wagons as per the photo - but still not finished! Great we have a wargaming light at the end of the tunnel!

Vincent Cholewa Looking good. Which city, Craig?
  • Craig Ellison Sienna -thus the black and white, with the blue representing one of the family with that and fish as their colours / emblems - from memory their flag is more like the Bavarian chequer but wasn't going to paint that!

    • John Edmundson Very nice! Funnily enough (in an interestingly serendipitous way) I was just thinking about Communal Italian plaustrella yesterday (I don't have the army) and wondering whether or not WWg(X) is the right way to depict them. It isn't like the Italians were expecting a breakout from Frederick Barbarossa's menagerie and WWg(X) are specifically anti-elephant devices.

I don't know though what they should have been instead. Or maybe instead, the anti-elephant carts should have been some other kind of expendable . . .

I also think that with DBMM leaving Ax(X) vacant (becoming Pk(F), anti-elephant specialist Ax(S) should have become Ax(X) instead of being Ax(S) with a free bonus ability.
    • Alastair Duncan Given the duplicitous nature of Don Ellisons past tepu5tation i suspect those carts were lasted used transporting the dead in Bergamo! I wouldnt play him without full Ppe....
    • Andrew Jarman Certainly a totally different version of the cart designs I have seen. Mine are here. https://drewjarman.blogspot.com/.../communal-italian...
