100 Years War English vs Dacians, Wellington Warlords - posted by Josh Barton, 18 May 2019

Battle report for English vs Graham's Dacians (alternatively, 'A reminder to paint my English knights!).
The English gambled on finding a river to run the length of the table... and got it but then dry weather made it low, allowing the Dacian warbands to cross it without impediment.
The game started slowly with Graham slowly revealing more and more of his army as the English defended the river. the Irich psiloi took a difficult hill over the other bank and, after a bit of too and froing decided to hold it against the oncoming horde (and were absolute monsters on that hill, killing 14 warband for only a loss of 2 of their own!)
However eventually the tidal-wave of half-naked Dacians with falx-axes rushed forward, and despite massive losses, hit the English lines. The English blade counter-attacked killing more, as the bow continued to fight, eventually breaking the Dacian left at the same time they gave up the fight.
The ensuring scrum was short (only 4 bounds!) but bloody, and sadly the English center broke just before the Dacians did, giving Graham the most Pyrrhic of victories (I'm pretty sure he lost more bases than I deployed!)

Simon Pleasants Very Game of Thrones. I was waiting for Daenerys and Drogon to appear!

Vincent Cholewa The only game I have ever played that ended with both armies breaking on the last bound was vs Dacians. As you, Josh, I think their casualties were about as many as my total army!
