Early 16th Century Polish - posted by Vince Cholewa, 6 May 2019

On my painting table. Progress on early 16th Century Polish: At the front, more cavalry finished, and behind them making a start on hussars.
“Racowie” (Serbians - who were equipped as unarmoured hussars) were serving in Polish armies by 1500. The army list is somewhat generous and allows hussars a lot earlier. In 1501 the first “Serbian-style” full companies made up of Poles, Lithuanians and Hungarians were raised. These quickly began wearing armour, and were the predecessors of the winged hussars.
For those with the DBMM rules in mind, the cavalry can be either regular or irregular Cv(O). The hussars are regular LH(S).

Polish cavalry - “Perry Miniatures”, Wars of the Roses light cavalry boxed set.

Polish armoured hussars - minor conversion with a bit of chopping and changing of “Old Glory” Rus mounted nobles and using “Old Glory” Balkan asymmetrical shields. All will be lance-armed.

Eddie Hudspith I am always impressed with tidy and permenant work spaces....when I usually pull up a coffee table and produce my paints from old shortbread tins.lol
