What have the Romans ever done for us? Posted by Vince Cholewa 2 January 2019

Happy #January ! named after the Roman god Janus, who presided over doors and beginnings.
Janus has two faces – one that looks to the past and the other looks towards the future.
The oldest lists of gods usually began with his name; he was surnamed divom deus, a very ancient form of Latin meaning "the god's god"

The name Janus (Ianus in Latin, as the alphabet had no j) is etymologically related to ianua, the Latin word for door.

Who was Janus, the Roman god of beginnings and endings? Caillan Davenport
