DBMM 200 - posted by Craig Mabon, 28 November 2018

Neil Williamson and I are planning to experiment with DBMM 200 at the next Masterton Marauders and I wondered if any other members of this group had played this form of DBMM (and what their impressions were).

Vincent Cholewa I have and it is good fun. You have very similar challenges to the full-sized game. The big difference was, I thought, when things start going wrong. With many fewer elements and smaller commands, once the cunning plan starts going wrong the end comes quickly - there are just not enough troops to save yourself. But then, you have enough time to play again.

Gary Lewis I learned dbmm playing at 240 points to the same dbmm200 rules. It helps to remind you to look after your generals...

Romans vs Huns: Game on! Posted by Gary Lewis, 26 November 2018

Neil Williamson Hi Gary, Do you fancy a game against the Hun?

Allen Yaxley Post mongol samurai verses the dreaded Hun. ðŸ˜ą

Gary Lewis sure. I was thinking of getting my Patricians out. So we could be fairly historical...

Neil Williamson Great. 400 points and see you there about 9.30

Gary Lewis Ok 400 points it is. Seeya then

Ptolemaic vs Samurai - posted by Russell Briant, 24 November 2018

My game vs Gary Lewis and his post Mongol Japanese.
Gary had to deploy first.
A hard fought game which I eventually won while suffering 30% losses.

All set on my left

... and my right. Gary looks on.
The pike block engage samurai katana wielders while ashigaru bow drive back the left pike block and Legionnaires.
This pushed back pike block never gets to engage. His general being in action and being the recipient of the lowest dice means there are never able to charge in.

Samurai superior archers on Gary’s left.

Manage to break the sohei monks and then the blades and bow between them

Legionnaires and Greek Mercenary Cavalry confront rank on rank of samurai cavalry

My knights keep chewing through samurai cavalry. This wing breaks breaks for us both. First Gary then me.

I create a can’t recoil problem for me mercenary cavalry who both die

Right wing mounted deploy away from the superior samurai archers
Rob Sadler Are they the Dixons he picked up at Heavy metal?

Allen Yaxley They are. Very observant.ðŸ˜ģ

Gary Lewis Yep - all I've done is a bit of tufting and static grassing

John Way Nice. Planning to convert my Japanese from DBR to DBMM. What is the opposing force that has pikes and legionarii?

Dirk Heinsius Ptolemaic Egyptian

Allen Yaxley Ptolemaic?

Russell Briant Yes. Sorry John Way. I should have mentioned that.

Wairarapa competition: Ptolemaic vs Siamese - posted by Russell Briant, 24 November 2018

Photos from my game vs Bruce and his Siamese in whose country Ptolemy rashly invaded.
Spent much of the game rolling ones and Bruce won a well crafted 22-3

My Companions go in

I think the Legionnaires might have survived this squeeze
My right flank

Pikes struggling to get enough drops to press on in

Achillias (the senior Ptolemaic general) about to enter the here after. One of two Ptolemaic generals to die.

Bruce’s ambush seeks to envelop my left wing

Bruce’s left
Che Tibby sounds almost exactly like selecuid's game against the siamese...

Russell Briant Che Tibby next time we will be dripping sixes ....... and then it will just be .... his Tactics ..... that ..... beat ...... us.

Che Tibby i did a big outflank, then had perfect matches between elephants and skirmishers, knights and blades.

apparently, even tactics didn't save me from 15 or 16 1s.

never, ever, fight a land war in asia.
