Goodbye to a dear friend, Alastair Mundell - from Vince Cholewa and Mark Conroy, 2 April 2026

I know that many of us knew that for some time Alastair had been living with a terminal illness that was wasting his body. On Monday I emailed the weekly DBMM news update and Alastair replied:
Vince
It's time for me to say Good Bye.
I'm having Assisted Dying Tuesday 31st March, 6pm.
Feel free to inform others.
And remove me from the mail list.
All the Best with your Life.
Al
Goodbye dear friend, we were privileged to know you. And I so fondly remember your “Big Onions” - Burgundians with their French chef and the wonderfully modelled camp. One last glass, santé, and our thoughts are with your family and loved ones.

Thank you to Mark Conroy for the pic of Al.

What a shame , I didnt know him well, just through dealings at work, but he always came across as such a nice gentle soul. RIP Al.
