Thank you so much to everyone who took part in the Levin DBMM competition, the armies and enemies of imperial Rome, at the weekend and to the others who dropped in. Games were played in good spirit and gentlemanly fashion, with minimal need for umpiring.
The final standings were:
- Keith V Trye, Ostrogoths, 76 points, first overall and first enemy of Rome.
- Andrew Bennetts, Palmyran, 71, second enemy of Rome.
- Peter Williamson , Huns, 64.
- Philip Gates , Late Imperial Roman and Vince Cholewa, Early Imperial Roman, 63, first Roman.
- Barry Norris, Late Imperial Roman, 52, second Roman.
- Julian Hannam , Late Imperial Roman, 51.
- Alastair Duncan , Early Germans, Early Imperial Romans, Alans, and Sassanid Persians, 48.
- Wayne W.J. Watts , Early Imperial Roman, 46.
- Graham Starkey, Parthian, 40.
- Paul Graham , German tribes, 38.
- Craig Mabon , Parthians, 30.
- Neil Williamson , Dacians, 19.
Michael Stonyer judged best army and best baggage, which were Andrew’s Palmyrans and Julian’s Late Imperial Romans, respectively.
Julian was also the Slayer of Generals, accounting for four. Craig Mabon was Looter of Baggage, in fact being the only playing to bag any, 1.
Spots prizes were won by:
- Handbag! Baggage that fought and won, Neil.
- Survivor DBMM, rolled one on combat dice and still won, Phil.
- Needle, psiloi rolled one and destroyed opponent, Andrew.
- The Count, tahi, rua, toru, on PIP dice, Andrew.
We have already had two suggestions for a theme for next year, Persians and their enemies, and the armies of Islam. Thoughts on those and other themes are most welcome.
A lesson I learned, I don't delegate well! I will get better and have more help next year
Thank you again and see you at Call to Arms.
