Mark the dates! DBMM events planned for 2023 - posted by Vince Cholewa, 3 December 2022

Mark the dates! DBMM events planned for 2023, so far. Including all the regulars and new events (irregulars? ho ho) planned for March and May in Featherston, and for July in Levin. I will pin this post as featured and save a “live” document in files, updating it as we get more information.
February 18-19, ChariCon, at the Hutt International Boys’ School, Upper Hutt: Neil Williamson will be running an "asymmetric" (i.e. armies with uneven points) DBMM competition at ChariCon, which returns after a COVID-induced break. Screen shots of the ChariCon flier and the DBMM rules of engagement are posted here https://www.facebook.com/.../8248.../posts/2185345144958399/
March 4, first day of Huzzah! Featherston: Allen Yaxley will be running this two day event at the Featherston Fusiliers. The competition is in three groups: Group 1, 3000BC - 192AD classical, chariots, Early Imp Roman. Group 2; 193AD - 1071AD dark ages, barbarians. Group 3, 1072AD - 1515AD medieval. 450AP including stratagems. Only accepting six gamers per grouping, 18 in total. Four have registered interest to date.
Entries close end of January. Second day will be May 6.
April 22-23, ValleyCon: The Hutt Valley Wargaming Club’s annual event. Details to come. The registrar, Simon McBeth, has advised Allen Yaxley has offered to run the DBMM competition.
May 6, second day of Huzzah! See details above, March 4.
June 3-4, DBMM NatCon: Andrew Bennetts will be running this annual event at King’s Birthday weekend at St Brendan’s School, Upper Hutt. It will use two player pools, those with armies before 1071 and those with armies from 1071, and amended baggage rules. July 29-30, Levin: Wayne Watts and Vince Cholewa will be running the first, hopefully annual, Levin wargaming event at the Levin Cosmopolitan Club. We will be offering a DBMM competition and there will be other gaming, too. Details to come. Vince’s email toysoldiers111@gmail.com
August/September, dates to be confirmed, Call to Arms: Wellington Warlord’s annual event that usually draws more than 100 gamers across all periods. Paul Graham has traditionally run the DBMM competition with pre-set terrain based on historical battles, with some twists. Details to come, usually held at St Patrick’s College, Wellington.
September 9 and 23 at the Hutt Valley Wargaming Club (dates to be confirmed), Recoil! Neil Williamson says he will keep as per previous years’ format: 240AP, 6'x4' tables, pre-set terrain, six rounds.

October 21-22, Heavy Metal Con: Ivan Truong runs this annual event in Pukekohe at Labour Day weekend. Details to come.
