Five games of DBMM at the HuttClub - posted by Vince Cholewa, 10 December 2022

There were five games of DBMM at the Hutt Valley Wargaming Club today:

Alastair Duncan (Assyrians) vs Phil Gates (Spartans in the Middle East) saw the narrowest of wins to the bad boys in Purple and Gold who were 1ME off breaking when the Spartans broke.
Barry Norris (Later Carthaginians) vs Wayne Watts (Marian Romans) showed quantity, and elephants, can prevail over Reg superior Roman quality.
Allen Yaxley (Medieval Irish) vs Drew Fortune (Italian Condotta, Papal) had Irish eyes smiling after a to and fro battle.
Graham Starkey (Medieval English) vs Paul Graham (Breton) was a trans La Manche affair of unknown outcome (sorry).
I used medieval Polish vs Josh Barton (Burgundian Ordonnance) for a win to me - battle report to come

Philip Gates (Spartans), Richard Mason honourable guest, Alastair Duncan (Assyrians)

Assyrian baggage - they had a certain reputation

Allen Yaxley (Medieval Irish) vs Drew Fortune (Papal)
Allen Yaxley
Drew flank marched a large command of knights. On one particular turn 😬he threw four 6’s.
They then went on to destroy my light horse command. 😳
The game turned when my blade supported by the Bruce and his Scottish knights managed to break his centre pike, blade, bow and artillery command.
Drew had strong winds blowing directly towards him for most of the game. 🤓

Wayne Watts (Romans) vs Barry Norris (Carthaginians)
Barry Norris
It was not Wayne's day with the dice. First, he invaded but had to deploy first. Then his Roman ally sulked in his tent. Then a Bd(S) died in the first combat to a 6-1. Sometimes it's the quality of the dice that beats the quality of the troops - or the general.

Graham Starkey - nice shirt and English. Peter Noble ready to offer useful advice (“oh, I wouldn’t do that” 😝). Paul Graham (Breton)

Vince Cholewa - surfing Santa and Polish vs Josh Barton (Burgundian)

Gavin Pearson
Great looking games with big figures.
