Emperor Caesar Marcus Didius Julianus Augustus. The unfortunate commander-in-chief of my slowly growing Middle Imperal Roman army.
You will no doubt know Didius reigned as Emperor in 193 AD for 66 days in the year of the five Emperors. He bought the position in an auction where he agreed to pay the Praetorian Guard, who had murdered emperor Pertenex, 25,000 sesterces per man.
The Roman population were not impressed and booed him in the Forum.
Lasted long enough for Septimius Severus to march his legions to Rome, past or through (authors differ) the out of practice Praetorians - Bd (S) I’ll have you know - and another soldier killed poor Didius who died asking what he had done wrong.
The bulk of these miniatures are Victrix. Didius’ head is metal from Aventine as is his banner (remounted on a cut down steel pike shaft)
And, with a bit of cutting down of bases, I have got Victrix horses to fit on a standard DBMM cavalry base. Feeling as chuffed about that as Didius on the day he won an empire in an auction.

Steven HillGreat General's element - when you put in your army list and they ask for a range, well Didius is a single year!!
Russell Briant+1
I’m not expecting a huge amount of on-table luck for friend Didius
