Sistema 30L or pairs of 14L clip top plastic storage boxes work well. Also cantilevered toolboxes like the red Craftright ones seem popular. I use both but only adding the plastic boxes since the toolboxes can be problematic for largely cavalry armies or pikes as often these can only go in the bottom section. Like Vince I use magnets which will stop some movement in the toolboxes. For the Sistema boxes you will need to put a magnetic liner in (or similar).

Ottomans in a 30L Sistema box. I'm tending more toward 14L now as 30L of metal is quite heavy.

Basternae in a toolbox. Mostly plastic which makes it easier.

For 15mm I use MDF purpose designed army carriers. These are awesome as they are 40mm wide strips and housed in a MDF box with sliding trays. I am not sure if the gentleman is still doing them but I find them perfect for storage and transportation especially as my nations and eras are growing too big to be on display shelves.

28mm I am still working on how best to transport. Maybe the Games workshop carry bags with foam trays which I will need to build.

Toolbox with integral handles, the Bahco brand cantilevered ones are great (older ones with gloss finish best but newer ok and bigger actually). Magnets on the base keep things in place. For extra tall have a small double height toolbox with no internal bits, throw in a bit of foam to keep the elements apart

People here in Taipei and Hong Kong use transport cases from 'A-Case.' 'A-Case' is a Polish company and makes these metal cases. All you need to do is glue some magnetic material to the base of your figures and you're all set.
I'm not sure if the cases come in different sizes, but the one I use has three trays and that's enough for around 400 points of elements.

I have been using plastic boxes with removable dividers for my first Army. I’m still undecided if the time taken to organise them is worth the effort plus there is some wasted space. I have used magnetic paint on foam core to hold them in place. Magnetic tape on the figure bases of course.

Tool boxes but only of you put magnetic sheeting-fridge magnet material on your bases

I have plastic boxes with sliding drawers, from the Warehouse. I had metal sheets cut to fit and glued them onto the drawers. I glue magnetic strips onto my figures’ bases.
