Thank you so much to everyone who came to Poroutawhao Hall yesterday and made the first wargaming meeting at our new venue such a success. Mentions in dispatches for David Taylor, who brought tea, coffee and biscuits to share, Ken Hay who suggested the venue and put us in touch with the hall committee, and Gavin Dodd who travelled from Palmerston North to play
We used six tables and it was great to see friends dropping by to check out the action. Ignore the mistake in the short video where I say five tables were being used. Games played were:
Our youngest wargamer, Blair, beat his dad, Richard Glendinning, with a head shot (oww!) when they played Battletech.
Steve Sands (Union) brought along his 15mm American Civil War armies and he and Alan Cassidy (Confederate) played a game using Fire and Fury rules.
Rhys Hendry (French brig Sylphe) brought his Napoleonic ships and the General Quarters, Post Captain rules to play David (HMS Savage).
Ken (Dwarves) and Jeremy (Beastmen) played Warhammer, The Old World.
There two games of DBMM. Samuel Taylor (Late Achaemenid Persians) played Chris Blackler (Late Imperial Romans. I used Thracians vs Gavin’s Alexandrian Macedonians.
We are back to our regular schedule of meetings, 10am on the first and third Sunday of the month. Our next meeting will be on Sunday, October 5. All periods, all rules and all scales are most welcome, see you there
