Last Saturday Barry Norris attempted to teach me how to use a BUAf with my Ancient Brits. We also discussed other terrain placement and use. The game did not go entirely to plan as the BUAf went onto my right flank which constricted that command. The biggest issue was that my Allied command was happy to sit out the battle and watch. My left wing was very active on the attack but was placed in an impossible situation. That really sealed the game for me and that was game over. We discussed rewriting my Army list as it’s a bit ponderous and lacks pips. Also I will modify the BUAf.

Alastair DuncanAnd because of Shane Jones and co, you won't need building consent to modify the bua !!!!
Vincent CholewaBUAf can certainly be a double-edged sword. I had a memorable game where my opponent deployed a command of impetuous troops inside his BUAf. He needed PIPs to leave in columns. Then he needed PIPs to control the columns that had left while trying to get more columns out.
Why did your BUAf have to go on your right flank?
Daniel WadeVincent Cholewa Same with me. My Ps never left the BUAf along with some of my Light Horse. The way we read the rules the BUAf which is on a difficult hill had to be diced for?
Vincent CholewaDaniel Wade I didn’t know Ancient British BUAf have to be on a hill. The one I encountered was Gallic and was placed

Barry NorrisVincent Cholewa - Ancient British BUAf are hill forts so on DH or GH. So they are diced for as the hill. If you use DH then there should be less other terrain to block the position. Which we did.
Barry NorrisIt's possible but unlikely that the BUAf can't go down which would be sad given you pay for it then have to be the defender.
Vincent CholewaBarry Norris not so much that it can't be placed but, instead, too much difficult going in addition to the BUAf that becomes a PIP drain to move through after getting out of the BUAf

Pretty tough to get a good result with your ally sitting the game out
