[Edit after my post this morning: a correction, it turns out I didn’t win. There was a miscalculation of total scores and while mine was the top book 1 army, and most combative, I wasn’t first overall. The winner of the Brent Senior-Partridge trophy was Neil Williamson with Avars. Well done that man

Wellington Warlords’ held their annual Call to Arms at the weekend. Big thank yous to the club for running the convention, to Paul Graham for organising and umpirimg the DBMM competition, to my four opponents, to everyone who I had a chance to catch up with at the hall and at the pub and DBMM dinner on Saturday night - gentlemen all, and to Kapiti Hobbies for the prize voucher
I used Mitanni, 1274 BC, an army refurbished from the estate of Brent Senior-Partridge. On Saturday I won my two games, while on Sunday I had a draw and a loss. Luckily, I scored enough points in total (mostly on Saturday) to win the DBMM competition. I was also the “most combative” player. This is based on game play (use of stratagems, flank marches, killing generals etc.) rather than personality
Games are played used pre-set terrain inspired by historical battles and players move around the tables.

| Round three, my Mitanni vs Peter Williamson’s Malay. Peter defended, chose the bottom edge of the map and I was able to move the gentle hill in Peter’s half of the table onto his base edge. |

| Round four, my Mitanni vs Alastair Duncan’s Yi Dynasty Koreans. Alastair defended and I moved the large, scrubby hill back 80 paces to make a little more space for my chariots. |
