Especially when they have a bit of a backstory. These elephants are two of four I obtained from the talented Andrew Hunter well over a decade ago. Andrew sculpted and resin cast them himself. I've been using them, without howdahs, as reserves for my Carthaginians for when I wanted to field their full complement of elephants.
However, while planning my current Hellenistic project, the need for at least a couple of Macedonian elephants was quickly clear and these are the result.
Howdahs and crew are from Aventine, who sell them as separate kits so you can BYO elephant.
The chains securing the howdahs are in fact hobby necklace threading sourced from Spotlight.
Please don't look too closely at the elephant housing and padded saddle for the howdahs! They have been rather clumsily sculpted by me from Greenstuff. But it was fun to try and, overall, I'm pleased with how everything has come out.
