Midweek match with Andrew Bennetts visiting the North Shore with Palmyrans to play my Ghaznavids. Small table so a 240 point game meant two quite fragile armies. Benny's pips were something else, 14 in the first bound and subsequently most dice were 4s. Same could not be said of his combat dice. Ghaznavids had 4 pips in the first bound and 3 in the second. Plans went out the window, they need pips, and I did what I could to stabilise after losing 5 elements across 3 commands. Then it turned with my heroic cavalry Sub General surviving two quick kill attempts by the Cataphracts and by games end he had killed two of them personally. The Elephants also got into the Palmyran mounted and unfortunately for Benny I was killing just one of his commands. Two well matched forces and a true seesaw battle. Oh and I deployed the dog for extra distraction but she went to sleep again....
